Evaluation of Cardiovascular Effects of Carvacrol in a D-(+)-Galactose-Induced aging Model

نویسندگان

چکیده

Aim: To evaluate the cardiovascular effect of carvacrol treatment in a D(+)galactose accelerated aging model, investigating effects on vascular reactivity, oxidative stress, and systolic blood pressure (SBP).
Methodology: Eight-week-old male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) were used for oral eight weeks. Organ baths reactivity studies (FEN, ACh, NPS), fluorescence microscopy to detect reactive oxygen species (ROS, using DHE probe), Tail-Cuff (SBP) measurements. Non-linear regression was create concentration-response curves. Emax denotes tissue's maximum response.
 Results: The aged showed significant increase intensity by probe compared CTL group (CTL=100 ± 3.6%, n=5 Dgal=167.7 7.9%, n=5, respectively). However, levels ROS carvacrol-treated groups significantly attenuated Dgal+C50 (138.8 4.5%, n=5) Dgal+C100 (130.0 5.5%, groups. animals Dgal presented hypertension through SBP (CTL=135.9 3.9 mmHg, n=6, Dgal=170.9 2.0 n=9, increased could be reversed with (Dgal+C50=137.9 2.7 Dgal+C100=124.6 8.2 respectively. On other hand, unable restore ACh-induced vasorelaxation found (Emax=100.0 3.9%), (Emax=84.9 4.4%), 4.4%) (Emax=82.1 6.2 %).
Conclusion: Carvacrol shows protective antioxidant capable reducing animals, being an important tool promoting healthy aging.

P 36: Protective Effects of Crocin on D-Galactose Induced Aging Model in Human Neuroblastoma Cells

Introduction: D-galactose (D-gal) is well known as an appropriate agent to induced aging effects in the in vivo and in vitro models. In the present study, we selected crocin, the main constituent of Crocus sativus L. (Saffron), against D-gal cytotoxicity in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells. Materials and Methods:  Cells were pretreated with crocin (25-500 µM) for 24 h and then expos...

Protective effect of metformin on D-galactose-induced aging model in mice

Objective(s): Metformin (Met), an antidiabetic biguanide, reduces hyperglycemia via improving glucose utilization and reducing the gluconeogenesis. Met has been shown to exert neuroprotective, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The present study investigated the possible effect of Met on the D-galactose (D-gal)-induced aging in mice. Materials and Methods: Met (1 and 10 mg/kg/p.o.), ...

Protective effect of crocin against d-galactose-induced aging in mice

Objective: Aging is a multifactorial phenomenon, which attribute to different diseases and abnormalities in living systems. Oxidative stress, which is an important factor in aging, exacerbates this process via different mechanisms. Crocin (CR), one of the active components of saffron showed strong antioxidant effects. In the present study, anti-aging property of crocin was investigated in mice....
